Alexanders Horseboxes recently won the Best Small Company of the Year award. This article was taken from the Harrogate Advertiser this week, here’s what the Chamber president Simon Cotton and judges thought.
Harrogate Chamber of Trade and Commerce has sponsored the Best Small Company of the Year since the Ackrill Media Group Business Awards began in 2005.
The number of entries in this category has increased most years, with entries up 40 per cent this year. This illustrates the number of successful small business in this district and their enthusiasm for promoting their achievements.
The Best Small Company award is for the smaller business with one to ten employees that can demonstrate dynamism, committed to growth and success in achieving planned objectives. Entries had to demonstrate a clearly defined Vision for developing and growing the company in terms of both turn over and employment while demonstrating entrepreneurial characteristics.
Chamber president Simon Cotton said the judges had been extremely impressed by this year’s entry Alexanders Horseboxes, not only because of the company’s business plan and strategy to grow the business but by the unbelievable growth in particularly tough economic times. He said “This growth was to point that the judges got on the phone to check these facts and figures as they were too big to be true”. He continued “We felt they should win the award because it was not just about what they’ve actually done but also about their plans to move forward. It was how Alexander Brimelow is discussing opportunities overseas to the point that he’s got people making the horseboxes to his orders and they can’t keep up with demand. He’s been looking to buy one of the manufacturers to increase production.
“Alexanders Horseboxes has seen an opportunity in the market and has grasped it with both hands. The level of business the company is doing in this current climate is quite remarkable”.
